Senate Housing Society: Overview and History

Senate Secretariat Employees Cooperative Housing Society (SSECHS), also known as Senate Housing Society, is one of the many housing schemes in Islamabad that are yet to realize maturity. Woeful tales of corruption and fund embezzlement in the housing society have circulated in the papers from time to time. Registered in 1996 with the Cooperative Department of Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), the society hasn't been able to deliver for its members so far.

Lately though, Senate Housing Society has been under strict scrutiny of NAB and other government audit departments under the directives of a special committee of the Senate of Pakistan. Dildar Muhammad Fani, who is currently acting as the President of SSECHS, has also been active in the revival of Senate Housing Society.

In January 2014, Dildar Fani stated before the Senate Special Committee on Senate Secretariat Employees Cooperative Housing Society (SSECHS) that CDA was also creating hurdles in the development of the society. CDA was not issuing an NOC to the Senate Housing Society on the ground that it lacked an approach road. Senate Housing Society President observed that they were in discussions with different parties for securing road access to the housing society. The Senate Special Committee assured Senate Housing Society President that the society's grievances would addressed.

On 28 November, 2015, the Annual General Meeting of Senate Housing Society was held where it was informed to the society's members that additional pieces of land had been procured for the purposes of giving road access to the housing society after successful  negotiation with Fazal-e-Rabbi Enterprises.

Senate Housing Society Feature Report: Jang 11 December, 2015

On 11 December, 2015, Senate Housing Society featured in Daily Jang where details and updates from SSECHS' Annual Generate Meeting were announced publicly. It was stated that the Senate Housing Society has joined hands with Fazal-e-Rabbi Enterprises for gaining road access via Japan Road. For the project, Fazal-e-Rabbi Enterprises has undertaken the responsibility of providing road access to Senate Housing Society. Additionally, it was also observed that another MoU has been signed with the adjacent Gulberg Islamabad for alternative access to the Senate Housing Society. In the feature report, Senate Housing Society appealed to all members of the housing society to cooperate with the society management for timely completion of the project. In this regard, the management urged all society members to clear all pending dues to ensure timely completion of the project.

SSECHS: Location and Access

Built in Zone V of Islamabad, Senate Housing Society will be linked to Japan Road that runs from Islamabad Expressway after Naval Anchorage Housing Society. The Senate Housing Society will now be directly linked to Japan Road vide the additional pieces of land that have recently been procured.
